Beni’s Falafels, Makati City, Philippines Beni’s Falafels is a middle eastern restaurant in Makati, Philippines, which is open 24 hours, making it a great vegan/vegetarian late night snack option. LOCATION: 4364 Valdez St, Makati (near A-Venue) CUISINE: Middle Eastern CATEGORY: Non-Vegan, Vegan & Vegetarian Friendly Options, Cooked NUTRIENT LEVEL: 3.5/5 TASTE LEVEL: 4/5 PRICE: Affordable We heard about Beni’s Falafels from a friend who attended our Going Super Workshop as I (Ralph) was telling him how I loved falafels. His answer to me was that I had to try Beni’s Falafels, and so we decided to check it out. The place is like a small hole-in-the-wall find right behind A Venue in Makati, seating about 10-15 people maximum. Everything is transparent and visible to the customer without any barriers to the cooking area. The prices are very affordable, the staff friendly and the food excellent. You could also see, Beni, the owner, always present and overseeing operations. When looking for parking for this place we recommend parking in A Venue as you can just exist the parking and you would be immediately there. Inside, you can see the entire kitchen and the staff going preparing and taking the orders, Basically, its a no frills very efficient kind of restaurant.
We ordered their Hummus with pita bread and falafels. I really liked there hummus and it is one of the better hummus I have tried in Metro Manila. An additional order and a pleaseant surprise which was the shakshikha, I’m not quite sure but it may be a Iranian delecacy but it was very delicious. It is made of tomatoes and egg plants and has that pizza tomato sauce feel which was perfect with the pita bread. And finally, the falafels. We ordered around 15 falafels as they were so good! They will ask you if you want it mild, medium or spicy and we prefer the falafels mild. We also ordered their plain rice as a side, no brown rice perhaps this could be a suggestion or room for improvement for the restaurant as the menu is marketed as health food. This place is a hidden gem in Metro Manila, we left satisfied and actually cant wait to come back for our next falafel attack.
