Café Mediterranean LOCATION: Podium, Rockwell, Alabang Town Center, Greenbelt, Mall of Asia, Newport Mall, Davao CUISINE: Mediterranean CATEGORY: Non Vegan and Vegan & Vegetarian Friendly Options, Cooked NUTRIENT LEVEL: 3.5/5 TASTE LEVEL: 4/5 PRICE: 4/5 Café Mediterranean is one of the most vegan/vegetarian friendly restaurant in the Philippines. Being a restaurant that focuses on Mediterranean cuisine, alot of their dishes are naturally made up of plant based whole foods. I used to eat in Café Mediterranean a long time ago and always went for their chicken and beef kebab plate, but now after going plant based I appreciate their veg dishes way more then the usual meat based dishes before as it has so much more flavor. This place is a great restaurant to bring friends and family who would want to have non veg options still for a meal. After training heavy weight training and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu I went with our family to Podium to enjoy some yummy plant based eats. I had their special dip of the month which is an Iranian tomato based eggplant dip which was delicious, It had a not so spicy taste and was a great pairing with pita bread Since, I exercised vigorously today I added a lentil soup to my order. Café meds lentil soup is one of the tastiest lentils soup in Metro Manila, I’ve tried other local restaurants lentil soup but I prefer Café med’s lentil soup the most. It’s extremely filling, high in fiber and protein and is such a simple dish to replicate as well at home. My go to meal here in Café med is the Falafel gyro plate, I always switch out the pita bread with a serving of couscous which is low glycemic and is a great natural whole grains. I also have the sidings specifically changed to the Baba ghanoush whichis a eggplant and olive oil dip and the Tabbouleh which is a mix of greens dip. Sometimes I have hummust which is a chickpea dip high in protein but most of the time I always go for the Baba ghanoush/Tabbouleh combo. The Falafels served are crunchy and tasty, falafels are actually chickpeas/garbanzo beans mashed to form like a burger type small pattie. It is extremely delicious especially paired with the dip and is my favorite when I want to get some high protein from plant based sources in my meals. Café Med has a lot more plant based dishes in their menu such as the lentil burger which is delicious as well and a variety of soups and dips. PS. What I ordered was extremely filling, so if not so hungry I would cut out the lentil soup or share it with someone as it is very filling. Nevertheless, having lunch or dinner at Café med is always a win when craving for healthy plant based meals. =) Ralph some pictures taken from: thecafemediterranean.com https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Cafe-Mediterranean-Flavors-Of-The-Sun/124502077655357
